What year do you think 4-H was started in Charlotte County?  What year did you guess?  1990, 1960, 1988, wrong, the year was 1974. That's 34 years. In that 34 years, 4-H has molded and formed many children into upstanding citizens. They learned leadership, responsibility, how to work with others, public speaking, how government works, how to be good sportsmen and how to judge items from clothing to dairy cows.  What would we do without 4-H? Well I know I would be LOST! I was in 4-H myself as a child.  I have since been involded in 4-H for the past 10 years. Both my kids went through the program and came out ahead of their friends who never knew about 4-H. Both my children can speak in public before 2 or 200 people and not bat a eye thanks to 4-H. They were on judging teams, went to leg. and congress, did county events and district events, went to camp, were counselors at camp, traveled to other states in the exchange program, won trophies and ribbons for their rabbits, chickens, hogs, goats, heifers and steers. So, 4-H has been a part of our family for quit some time. Even my husband is involved, he has been the president of the 4-H Foundation for the past several years.  So why am I writing this you wonder, well 4-H needs YOUR help! As you may or may not know, when Amendment 1 passed,  a lot of different programs were put at risk of being cut. 4-H is one of those programs. We need your help to save 4-H in Charlotte County and 4-H in the State of Florida.
